Εκλογή νέων προεδρείων στο Δήμο και στη Νομαρχία.

Χωρίς εκπλήξεις πραγματοποιήθηκαν οι αρχαιρεσίες για την εκλογή του νέου προεδρείου στο Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο Αγρινίου. Συγκεκριμένα, επανεξελέγη ως πρόεδρος ο κ. Γεώργιος Γρίνος, ενώ τη θέση του αντιπροέδρου καταλαμβάνει ο κ.Κώστας Καλατζής και της γραμματέως η κα Λαμπρινή Κολοβού .

Απ’ την άλλη, αλλαγή σκυτάλης είχαμε στο Νομαρχιακό Συμβούλιο Αιτωλοακαρνανίας, όπου εξελέγη πρόεδρος ο κ. Ευστάθιος Λουκόπουλος, αντιπρόεδρος ο κ. Ανδρέας Σκύρλας και γραμματέας η κα. Αγγελική Αντωνοπούλου.

Εμείς τους ευχόμαστε σιδηροκέφαλοι και καλή επιτυχία στο έργο τους. Μένει τώρα να δούμε τι θα γίνει με τους αντιδημάρχους και τους αντινομάρχες, αφού είθισται η αλλαγή τους, προκειμένου να υπάρχει ανανέωση αλλά και για να διατηρούνται οι ισορροπίες στο εσωπαραταξιακό σκηνικό. Obama Snubs Intelligence Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein

So Obama chose Leon Panetta to head the CIA and then he forgot to consult with, or bother to mention it to Dianne Feinstein, the incoming Chairwoman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence!

Senator Feinstein read about it in the New York Times.

The sweetie is pissed:

“I was not informed about the selection of Leon Panetta to be the CIA Director. I know nothing about this, other than what I’ve read,” Feinstein said in a statement. “My position has consistently been that I believe the Agency is best-served by having an intelligence professional in charge at this time.”

A Feinstein spokesman told CNN’s Dana Bash that the California senator found out about Obama’s pick after her staff showed her a New York Times report.

It turns out that Dianne Feinstein, the incoming Intelligence chairwoman (and Jay Rockefeller, the outgoing Intelligence chairperson), — privately recommended someone with experience.

Ann Coulter Banned from NBC for Criticizing Obama?

Ann Coulter’s scheduled appearance on NBC was abruptly canceled yesterday. The noble and honorable Drudge claims that an NBC lackey told him that’s because Coulter’s banned for life. (Another anonymous lackey allegedly told Drudge that’s not true.)

“We are just not going to have her on any more, it’s over,” a top network source explains.

Banned for life from NBC? What could possibly cause such a thing? When Coulter said the world would be a better place if Jews were not in it, greedy NBC welcomed her with open money-grubbing arms.

When Coulter said America would be a better place if women didn’t have the right to vote, NBC giggled like a star-struck misogynist and raked in the money while oohing and fawning over the self-loathing woman. But then we know what NBC thinks of women.

So what’s so bad about Coulter’s new book? Could it be that Ann Coulter has criticized the Precious? Why, of course she has. She even calls him “B. Hussein Obama,” which in these adolescent Obama-adulation times smacks of high treason!

“We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now,” a TODAY insider reveals. “It’s such a downer. It’s just not the time, and it’s not what our audience wants, either.” . . NBC’s cable outlet, MSNBC, will also become a Coulter-free zone, insiders explain. Morning host Joe Scarborough is said to be concerned with the new ban. “He’s working to overrule it,” tips a source.

I want to say that Drudge must be getting a kickback from Coulter’s book sales, because the publicity she’s getting from this story is the best thing that could ever happen to a mindless always factually erroneous Ann Coulter rant. I want to say this is so obviously a phony ban, and NBC is obviously stoking the high ratings fire, and we should look for Coulter to appear soon on NBC and MSNBC too.

But since we’re talking about NBC, hell, maybe she is banned. Maybe NBC’s adolescent Obama-adulation actually trumps NBC’s greed for high ratings. More likely, NBC has invested heavily in some Historic Barack Obama Collector Commemorative Plates! After all, they go so nicely with NBC’s commemorative DVD: ‘Yes We Can: The Barack Obama Story’ as seen on NBC Nightly News!!

At any rate, NBC offers a stunningly lame excuse:

Late today, NBC News denied the story with this statement: “We’ve had Ann Coulter on ‘Today’ many times, but because of the news in Washington and the Middle East, we decided to cancel her appearance tomorrow. Understanding the media as well as she does, we are sure she knows this happens from time to time. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future.”…

The Drudge story says NBC “replaced Coulter with showbiz reporter Perez Hilton,” who also has a book being released tomorrow. NBC tells TVNewser Hilton is just appearing in the fourth hour and had been booked far in advance.

Eric B. Paid in Full Twice: Features Brooklyn Rapper Avion in Debut Album

The multi-platinum producer and entrepreneur, Eric B. is breaking record deals for traditional as well as non-traditional music distribution. Music and Internet companies have proposals on the table to for Eric B. Feat. Avion album. The streets are talking about the new Eric B. project dropping sometime late spring 2009. Eric B. discovered the rapper, Avion, who delivers a unique sound and lyrics.

Born and educated in Brooklyn, NY, Avion has lived in Miami for ten years and both have an influence on his savvy style. Avion’s combination of east coast and southern appeal is the right mix for what music listeners want today. The single “Hit the Floor” with Rough Ryder RIAA Platinum rapper Jadakiss is on the hook. The Single already has rave reviews from several well-known industry music critics.

The interview took place in Eric B.’s head quarters, which is in one of his spacious mega mansions. Eric humbly says, “My goal is to build a 21st Century Motown. Motown an assembly line for hit music. Motown was a true music factory. Eric B. continues, saying, “Product with the Motown name is still viable ten, fifteen, years after its initial release. Most of the hits made a decade ago are still playing on the radio airwaves today. This year the company will build the 21st Century Motown, which has both a music and film ventures under development. Eric B. Music Group is aggressively building the next generation of producers…”

Eric B. Special Projects is working with strong, young, talented producers that are consistently delivering the goods. During the interview Eric B. recently produced a duet for teen phoneme, Corey Golden and other well-known Radio Disney talent. The song sounds like a piece from the Broadway play Grease.

“Eric B. feels that it is important that we build a foundation on good product. The music, and lyrics, come from sought after talent working under the Eric B. brand and quality control. Most of our producers may not have gotten the shot with another label. We looked to develop raw talent…Eric B. hand picked talent that we feel have potential to be the next breaking artist. Music reviews are coming back strong,” According to Richard V. Mahee, Executive at Eric B. Special Projects.

In the mid 80’s managed by Russell Simmons, Eric B. was paid in full with a $1 million advance from a record company (the first ever in hip hop game). Eric B. also was advanced another $1 million from a publishing deal on week later. $2 million in advance for a project is not even obtained by many signed artists in 2008. The reason why is because “Eric B. brings the highest quality of product in everything that he does. The Eric B. featuring Avion project will also bring tremendous opportunities for our partners and sponsors to leverage their brands,” Says Richard V. Mahee.

Eric B. is also known for chart breaking music, selling out concert halls to Madison Square Garden. “It will be interesting to see the span of generations that will come out to the show. The show will pack many coliseums to the max,” Says Richard V. Mahee.

In the mid 1980’s, Eric B’s influence was the inspiration for trends such as the valor Fila tennis suits, which then cost $1,700 each at the time, heavy solid gold rope chains. Eric B. is now setting more luxurious trends amongst his peers and today’s youth markets. When it comes to lifestyle, Eric B. raises the bar and always has. “People remember Eric B. as the first one in the industry to drive a Rolls Royce (his first car), but many people do not know that Eric B. is also behind music trends like party remix “Pump up the Volume”, which was produced by UK based M.A.R.S.,” Notes Mahee.

His new project features the first artist to be released under Eric B. Music Group, “Avion”. Eric did this album with “A” (Avion) because he enjoys working with great musicians. Special Projects management team is also in negotiations with Boulevard Industries for a feature film, which is in pre-production. The cast will feature Eric B., Mahee and other members of Eric B. Fugitive Days – Bill Ayers

Ironically, Bill Ayers seems to have garnered more attention by his tenuous associations with Barack Obama than he did by being on the FBI’s most wanted list as one of the 60’s activist group, the Weathermen. In this book he tells his tale of his activist days and he writes in an extremely engaging way. He draws you in and brings the times alive again – the excitement and the horror, the injustice and the radicalism, the pacifism and the violence and the call to young people to change the evil, racist, terrorist government that had taken over this great country and perverted its ideals.

The Weathermen have been tainted by the Nixon administration’s (and the FBI) label of “domestic terrorist”, though this group and their tactics had nothing to do with those of true domestic terrorists, such as the KKK, the abortion clinic bombers, Timothy McVeigh, the Unibomber, and even the American police and military at the time. Or even groups such as Palin’s Alaskan separatists. These were true Americans who were willing to fight and die to oppose the terrorist policies that the American government had enforced against their own citizens, particularly African-Americans, and on innocent Vietnamese in an illegal and immoral war. These people believed in the ideals that America was founded on and fought to bring these ideals back.

As a lifelong pacifist I don’t approve of all of the tactics that they used (though there is no record of the Weathermen’s actions claiming any lives other than their own, unlike the police who reacted against them), but these were true American heroes, not unlike those who fought against the tyranny of the British during the founding of this country.

For those who are interested in the reasons behind 60’s activism as told by someone who was in the heart of one of the many movements at the time (and he doesn’t presume to talk for any of the other many different groups that were active at the time), this is a well written, emotional read. Highly recommended!
