BioFit 1Y Takes the Plunge to Fill Undersea Seating Role for NOAA
BioFit Engineered Products, an Ohio-based manufacturer and long-standing leader in the development of ergonomic seating, recently provided the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with a solution to a unique furnishing challenge it faced within its Florida Keys-based undersea research habitat.
Bowling Green, OH (PRWEB) January 10, 2009 — BioFit Engineered Products, an Ohio-based manufacturer and long-standing leader in the development of ergonomic seating, recently provided the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with a solution to a unique furnishing challenge it faced within its Florida Keys-based undersea research habitat. As a result, NOAA aquanauts can now work comfortably at the facility’s computer station thanks to BioFit’s 1Y swing-arm stool.
The Aquarius underwater laboratory is owned by the NOAA and operated by the NOAA Undersea Research Program’s Undersea Research Center at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Located in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Aquarius is deployed 3.5 miles offshore at a depth of 60 feet, adjacent to spectacular coral reefs. Scientists live in the underwater laboratory during 10-day missions and use saturation diving to study and explore the US coastal ocean. Limited space within the habitat means equipment and furnishings are closely scrutinized for size and functionality. Until recently, a folding plastic step stool served as the seating for the habitat’s computer station. Then a NOAA researcher discovered the 1Y from BioFit Engineered Products.
The flexible BioFit 1Y features a swiveling base with a pivoting arm that can be securely mounted to any stable vertical surface, allowing it to swing out of the way while not in use and stay put while it is. The 1Y was designed to serve in a variety of environments where space constraints are a primary consideration, ranging from assembly lines, factories and other industrial settings to medical laboratories and classrooms. Another more innovative installation of the 1Y includes the sleeper cab of a truck. The 1Y is available in many chair and stool configurations, comes in a wide range of upholstery options, and is backed by an industry-leading 13-year warranty.
According to Craig Cooper, Operations Director of the NOAA Undersea Research Center, “We were using an old PVC step stool as the seat at our computer stations and knew we needed a more suitable alternative. A member of the operations team, Dewey Smith, found the 1Y online. In addition to providing a more comfortable seat for computer users, the swing-arm feature and small footprint make ‘the Dewey stool,’ as we call it, a good fit for the habitat.” Cooper added that three more 1Y stools have been purchased and will be installed during a future dive in the main lock and laboratory stations of the habitat.

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern. But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”

Το παρόν γράμμα δεν αποτελεί κατηγορώ για τους εργαζόμενους του Ο.Α.Ε.Ε. μιας και εάν υπήρχε κάποια εύκολη λύση φαντάζομαι θα είχε δοθεί. Επίσης, αντιλαμβάνομαι ότι δεν μπορεί να αναγκασθεί κάποιος ιατρός να μπει στις λίστες του Ο.Α.Ε.Ε εάν δεν το επιθυμεί. Τι θα γίνει όμως εάν του χρόνου για παράδειγμα δεν θελήσει κανείς παθολόγος ή παιδίατρος να ενταχθεί στην λίστα του Ο.Α.Ε.Ε.; θα πηγαίνουμε στην Πάτρα ή στην Αθήνα;
The House of Representatives has easily passed two employment law bills directed toward compensation issues. The bills and the votes in the House by party are:
HR 11, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act -
Democratic Yeas 244 Democratic Noes 5
Republican Yeas 3 Republican Noes 166
Total Yeas 247 Total Noes 171
15 Members who did not vote.
HR 12, the Paycheck Fairness Act -
Democratic Yeas 246 Democratic Noes 3
Republican Yeas 10 Republican Noes 160
Total Yeas 256 Total Noes 163
14 Members who did not vote.
These were pretty much a foregone conclusion. Although it might be closer in the Senate, I would expect both to pass.
In other Washington news, Secretary of Labor designate Hilda Solis had about a two hour confirmation hearing, with very few tough questions and no tough questions where answers were demanded. No question that she will be confirmed.

I stole that headline from Politico. Tennessee’s Republican Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn says it’s only a “paperwork error.” Yet a legal notice went out proclaiming that her Brentwood home would be sold on the steps of the Williamson County Judicial Building on Jan. 29.
Rep. Blackburn may run for governor in 2010. Would that us ordinary folk could chalk all our financial woes up to “paperwork errors.”
The Memphis Flyer reports:
7th District congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, who represents portions of Shelby County and last fall was among the stoutest opponents of any federal bailouts related to the housing industry crisis, saw her own home listed for foreclosure this week, but apparently will avert any further jeopardy.

Report: Obama prepared to talk to Hamas.
Barack Obama is reportedly planning to ditch President Bush’s strategy of isolating Hamas, and will instead move to open contacts with the group. “The Guardian has spoken to three people with knowledge of the discussions in the Obama camp. There is no talk of Obama approving direct diplomatic negotiations with Hamas early on, but he is being urged by advisers to initiate low-level or clandestine approaches, and there is growing recognition in Washington that the policy of ostracising Hamas is counter-productive.”

I saw this on MSNBC earlier today. And it was the best laugh I’ve had all week. David Shuster slugs it out with John Ziegler, the guy who interviewed Sarah Palin earlier this week. I don’t know why they didn’t just take it outside.
David “Pimping” Shuster is still trying hard to be the Bill O’Reilly of MSNBC! In my view, Shuster is worse than O’Reilly.
There he is in the photo playing with a Hillary pen that laughs and making crude jokes about Hillary’s “cackle.” Shuster doesn’t like Sarah Palin, and he sure doesn’t like Hillary Rodham Clinton. Like a lot of sexist men, Shuster prefers for women to be wives, not pols.
Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, and David Shuster, what a freaking sexist cast of characters. How can they present the news when they ARE the news?

Hip Hop Artist go-d Releases First Single “Frustration (Recession Anthem)” With Single Release Party
On December 17, 2008, Brooklyn rapper go-d (Time2 Music) started his media campaign for his first single “Frustration (Recession Anthem) with a single release party and special album preview. As part of his forthcoming double disk album, currently untitled, “Frustration (Recession Anthem)” rolls out as a perfect soundtrack for 2009.
With his DJ, PF Cuttin, go-d rocked the mic New York’s famed Bowery Poetry Club. Besides performing the premier single, go-d also performed nine other tracks that will be on his upcoming album like “Can’t Please Everybody,” “I Should’ve Known,” and “Black Inventors.”
“This is a great way to roll into the New Year! Catch me in a city near you in 2009!” – go-d
About “Frustration (Recession Anthem)”:
As art should reflect the cultural and societal shifts and trends, “Frustration” does so by reflecting on the problems that are heightened during this economic downshift such as: employment or lack thereof, securing housing, strains on intimate relationships, and much more. Though this classic record was written in 2003, it is still relevant and rings true today. As all good music transcends genres, this track is relatable to not just Hip Hop lovers.
“Frustration (Recession Anthem)” is already available digitally on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic, and Amazon. The physical release date of the track is projected to be mid-February 2009.
Credits to the track are as follows: Written & Produced by: go-d, Beat by: Nebula 1, Recorded and mixed by: PF Cuttin, Mastered by: Andy VanDette for Master Disk.
About go-d:
History comes alive to connect with the present through rapper/song writer Keith “go-d” Fleming. The Brooklyn native takes inspiration from all aspects of hood life and growing up in it, including: the struggle, the pain, the love, the innocence of children, becoming a man, trying to live righteously, and the rich history of his people – just to name a few. Using Hip Hop as his medium, go-d eloquently elucidates the stories of those lost in the urban jungle over hard beats to become a modern day griot. go-d produces intellectual Hip Hop that’s actually good.
